Ghana winger Osman Bukari is highly optimistic that the West African nation will end its forty-year trophy drought at the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Ghana has failed to clinched the most prestigious trophy on the African continent since 1982. The Black Stars came close to winning it on two occasions in the last two decades — 2010 in Angola and 2015 in Equatorial Guinea - but lost to Egypt and Cote D'Ivoire.

However, Osman Bukari believes he and his teammates are capable of winning the trophy for Ghana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which has been scheduled to be played in January to February 2024.

The 23-year-old attacker, who was speaking to BYT Sports TV after Ghana's elimination from the 2022 World Cup, said he is confident that the Black Stars will lift its for fifth AFCON trophy in Ivory Coast.

When the Red Star Belgrade attacker was asked if Ghana can win AFCON 2024, he said, “Oh Yes, anything can happen. We have to put it at the back of our minds we are going to win AFCON 2024”

“We have a very young team so anything can happen though I’m not 100% sure of Ghana winning it but its football and anything can happen” he told BYT Sports TV.

Bukari made two appearances for the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup before their elimination.
