Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has reportedly filed a complaint with FIFA against the Ghana Football Association (GFA), seeking more than $750,000 in outstanding salaries, bonuses and other contractual entitlements following the termination of his contract.
According to Joy Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, Addo resorted to football's world governing body after efforts to recover the money from the GFA proved unsuccessful.
The 50-year-old is reportedly claiming approximately 15 months of unpaid salaries, in addition to performance bonuses and other benefits outlined in his contract with the association.
Addo is understood to have earned a monthly salary of $50,000, meaning the alleged salary arrears alone amount to $750,000, excluding any additional contractual payments he believes are owed.
The dispute follows the GFA's decision to dismiss Addo on March 31, 2026, bringing an end to his second spell as head coach of the Black Stars after a disappointing run of results.
His departure came after Ghana suffered successive defeats in the March international window, including a heavy 5-1 loss to Austria in Vienna and a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart. The back-to-back losses extended the Black Stars' winless run and prompted the GFA to terminate his contract just 72 days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Addo had returned to the Black Stars in March 2024 after previously managing the national team between 2022 and 2023. His second tenure ended amid growing pressure following Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and a poor start to the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The reported FIFA case now adds a legal dimension to Addo's departure, with the former Borussia Dortmund coach seeking payment of what he believes are outstanding contractual obligations.
The Ghana Football Association has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported FIFA complaint or respond publicly to the allegations surrounding the unpaid salaries and benefits.
