Black Stars coach Otto Addo is facing intense scrutiny following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but he has firmly rejected calls for his resignation.

After Ghana's disappointing 2-1 loss to Niger in their final Group F match on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, Addo addressed the criticism head-on, insisting that stepping down is not an option.

“I’m not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach,” Addo said. “If you know where I have come from to get this job, you wouldn’t even ask about resignation.”

Addo remained defiant in the face of calls for his departure, adding, “People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me.”

Ghana's qualification campaign was a disaster from the start, with a 1-0 loss to Angola setting the tone. This was followed by a lackluster 1-1 draw with Niger and two disappointing performances against Sudan. With no wins from six games, Ghana finished bottom of Group F with just three points, well behind Angola (14 points), Sudan (8 points), and Niger (7 points).
