Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien paid a surprise visit to the Black Stars camp ahead of their highly anticipated Unity Cup clash against Trinidad and Tobago, scheduled to take place this weekend.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder, who remains one of Ghana's most iconic midfield sapper's, took time to interact with the players and technical team during a training session in London.
His presence sparked excitement and motivation among the squad, many of whom grew up idolizing the midfield powerhouse.
Essien, who is currently a coach at Danish club FC Nordsjælland — visit is seen as a symbolic show of support and unity as Ghana prepares for their third-place match on Saturday, May 31.
The Black Stars were defeated 21 by Nigeria on Wednesday in their first game of the Unity Cup which prevented them from advancing to the finals of the tournament.
