Group Chief Executive Officer of DataBank Group and accomplished banker, Kojo Addae-Mensah has professed that the champions of the Ghana Premier League will not make any meaningful impact even with Jose Mourinho or Alex Ferguson as their head coach at the CAF Champions League.

This comes in the wake of gaffer, Prosper Narteh Ogum's decision to leave the club after joining the Kumasi-based side on a two-year deal from West African Football Academy [WAFA] before the start of the 2021/22 season and led them to win the Premier League title.

However, the top hierarchy of the club are in search of a new head coach ahead of the 2022/23 football season.

The former Kotoko Express Newspaper columnist stated that it will be a petrifying task for any coach to lead Asante Kotoko to the CAF Champions League after just six months in the Porcupine Warriors dugout.

“Clearly, I am not going to expect that we are going to have a coach who will come in six weeks to Africa with the kind of material we have, to go and make an impact,” Addae-Mensah told Kumasi based Luv FM.

“We can bring Mourinho or go and bring Ferguson or whoever to come into Kotoko, there is no way we will make an impact with a new coach, with disgruntled players, with players who are not sure whether they are going to renew their contracts, I mean it’s a pity,” he added.

Addae-Mensah, who is well known in the Ghanaian media fraternity as a football pundit stated that Asante Kotoko would have made a stupendous impact at the CAF Champions League if Prosper Narteh Ogum had stayed.

“Already with Ogum and with the players, I had said that I followed from the quarter-finals of the champions league and the confederations cup, it was already going to be an uphill task to break into the group stage,” he said.
