The Greater Accra Regional Police has granted approval for a planned demonstration scheduled to take place at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) premises.
The demonstration will be led by Abraham Boakye, popularly known as One Man Supporter. In an official letter dated September 26, 2023, the Ghana Football Stakeholders Forum, a recognized group, received authorization to proceed with the protest.
The demonstration is set for Monday, October 2, 2024, and will occur between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
According to the police statement, participants are expected to present their petition directly to both the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Minister of Youth and Sports during the event.
The police statement reads, "The Accra Regional Police Command acknowledges receipt of your letter dated 25th September, 2023, on the above subject matter. Pursuant to a meeting held between you and the Police at the Regional Headquarters, Accra, on 26th September, 2023, it was agreed that:
- You embark on your intended demonstration on 4th October, 2023, between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm.
- You shall present the petition to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Minister of Youth and Sports.
- You shall ensure that there is no infiltration.
The Police wish to assure you that it will provide you with the needed security coverage for your intended demonstration according to its mandate."
