President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo welcomed the family of Christian Atsu to the jubilee house last Monday, and urged them to accept his confidences and also assured them of a state-assisted burial.

The 31 year old Ghanaian winger tragically passed away following an earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6, 2023.

After almost two weeks of being trapped under rubbles, his lifeless body was found at his apartment last Saturday and was officially confirmed dead.

The news was really hard to be accepted by the football world who emotionally paid tribute to Atsu, not only because of what he's done on the pitch but also his great contribution to humanity. He was really known with philanthropy.

The family of the deceased were present at the President's office for a meeting, which also included some members of the GFA and they have been promised of a befitting burial.

"I want the Chief of Staff to make sure we organise a state-assisted funeral for Christian Atsu depending on the date that you the members of the family and the GFA will select."

"Everything will be done from the point of view of the government to make sure that he is given a dignified exit. I owe it as my responsibility as President to make sure that that happens."

Christian Atsu's mortal remains arrived in the country last Sunday with his one week observation scheduled for March 4, 2023.
