Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member Randy Abbey has urged Asamoah Gyan to sign for a Ghana Premier League (GPL) club to prove that he deserves to go to the World Cup.

Asamoah Gyan has reiterated his desire to feature for Ghana at the mundial in Qatar later this year.

Ghana have been paired with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in the group stages.

Asamoah Gyan hasn't featured for any club since parting ways with GPL side Legon Cities after the 2020/21 season.

He's been captured going through some drills after his interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation.

The 37-year-old is the all-time record goal scorer for the Black Stars.

Randy Abbey insists that he must sign for a club to prove that he deserves to be called-up by Otto Addo ahead of the World Cup.

“There’s one more week to the end of the transfer window in Ghana. He could sign for a Premier League club in Ghana and he has about two months to show [his capabilities]," he said on Metro TV.

"If he were to seek my advice, I will tell him to sign up for one of the premier teams. There’s still one more week to go for registration and use that period to prove that you can play.

“He plays a lot of tennis these days and it's good. For the Asamoah I know, it is his mind. If he is determined to make the shape, his knee is okay…he should be fine but it is up to him,” he concluded
