Nations FC head coach Kasim Ocansey Mingle has expressed his confidence in his captain, Razak Simpson, stating that the central defender is capable of competing with the current Black Stars defenders.
Mingle's comments come in the wake of Ghana’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The loss, which ended the Black Stars' 25-year unbeaten record at the venue, was sealed when Angola's Felício Milson capitalized on a late error by Abdul Mumin to score in stoppage time.
Kasim Mingle, unimpressed with Ghana’s defensive performance, made a case for his player, Razak Simpson, saying the Nations FC defender deserves a chance at the national level.
"Razak Simpson can match up well with the Black Stars central defenders when given an opportunity," Mingle told Akoma FM in an interview.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to their next Group F fixture against Niger on Monday, September 9, 2024, in Berkane, Morocco, as they look to revive their AFCON qualifying campaign after the opening loss.
