The President of Ghana Athletics Association, Bawa Fuseini, has urged the new Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to ensure he restores public trust and improves the organization's reputation.

In recent years, the NSA has faced severe condemnation, especially concerning how the various stadis are managed.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Bawa Fuseini indicated belief in Yaw Ampofo Ankrah - acknowledging his strength and competence, asserting that he is highly competent and in a good position to uphold his appointment.

“Yaw is capable and qualified and I believe that he will be able to justify the reason why he’s been appointed to head the National Sports Authority. All of us are there to support him and I’m very hopeful and I know what Yaw can do and I have a strong conviction that Yaw will succeed.

“His immediate task at the National Sports Authority is to regain public confidence and integrity. For me, the image or reputation of an institution is very very critical so what he needs to do as quickly as possible is to work to restore the image of the national sports authority and afterwards, he can implement his ideas or the ideas of the ruling government who have put him there," Bawa Fuseini challenged Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

Meanwhile, in a countermove President John Dramani Mahama has terminated the appointment of Acting Director-General of the NSA, Seth Panwum Boyoyo.

As the new Director General of the National Sports Authority, Ankrah will liaise with Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams to improve, develop, boost, manage and elevate sporting events.

Also under his tutelage, he will have the opportunity to explore and implement various innovations for generating funds internally.
