Former Ghana international, Mohammed Polo has advised captain Andre Ayew to retire from the national team after he was left out of the latest squad.

The 34-year-old Ayew who plies his trade in France for Le Havre was not handed a call-up by coach Otto Addo ahead of Ghana's upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic.

This development has prompted Polo to doll-out free advice to Andre Ayew, urging him to call time on his international career.

“It’s up to Dede to decide to retire or not but I will personally advise him to retire because he has done enough for the nation,” Polo told Connect 97.1FM.

“In life, if your time is up, it doesn’t matter what you do. Dede has done a lot for our national teams. What he has done is for prosperity to talk about," Polo added.

In the absence of Ayew, Arsenal's Thomas Partey will captain the Black Stars for the two games against Mali and Central African Republic.

The Black Stars has three points from two games in group I, with Comoros leading the group with 6 points.
