Former Ghana international goalkeeper Ali Jarrah has suggested that Black Stars coach Chris Hughton should reinstate Richard Ofori as the national team's first-choice goalkeeper.

Ghana has experimented with several goalkeepers, but none have managed to establish themselves as the main option.

Ofori, who plays for Orlando Pirates in South Africa, was Ghana's first-choice goalkeeper before suffering injuries that led to his absence from the team. During his absence, players like Jojo Wollacot, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Danlad Ibrahim, and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen have been tested, but none have fully convinced the Ghanaian public.

Ghana faced two defeats during the October international break, losing 2-0 to Mexico and 4-0 to the United States of America, leading to concerns about the goalkeeping department.

Ali Jarrah, a former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, has expressed the need for the national team's technical staff to reinstate Richard Ofori as the team's first-choice shot-stopper, stating that if Ofori is fit and back in the team, he undoubtedly deserves to be the number one goalkeeper, ahead of Ati-Zigi.

“Richard Ofori was Ghana’s top choice before his unfortunate injury, but if he’s back in the team and fit, he unquestionably merits the role of the team’s number one goalkeeper, ahead of Ati-Zigi.” He said.

The Black Stars are set to begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign next month, starting with a match against Madagascar.
