President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his Government's dedication to good governance, emphasising its commitment to transparency and accountability for the benefit of the people.
The first gentleman of the land made these remarks delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Parliament.
The President highlighted the Government’s significant efforts to provide the public with information and promote transparency, urging the Ghana Football Association to disclose the budget of the Black Stars.
“Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars, now a pale shadow of their former glory will be in action," Mahama stated.
"I have instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the GFA accountable, particularly regarding the team’s budget. There will be no secrecy in how much the government spends on the national team. The budget presented by the FA and other associations must be made public, as it is taxpayers’ money,” Mahama stated.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are slated to face Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday five and six games next month. Ghana will host Chad on March 17, before traveling to square-it-out with Madagascar on March 24.
