The sports minister of Ghana has disclosed that the Sekondi Essipong Stadium is gradually taking shape as construction works reach the roofing stage.
Mustapha Ussif's update comes after footage of the fine edifice that hosted the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in a deplorable stage.
Giving an update during a press conference today (Wednesday), Ussif said, "We have very good news for you on the Essipong Stadium. As we speak, the contractor is roofing Essipong Stadium.
"We told you from the beginning that work was ongoing. And we all know because some of us decided to go and do finance. We are not experts when it comes to construction.
"But the little we know is that while you are doing construction, there is no way the place will look neat until you finish. We told you that they were blasting because a lot of the metals that were used were a bit damaged."
