Communications manager of Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saani Daara, says the minister of youth and sports, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has no right to dictate to the national team coach on whom he should invite for national assignment.

Reports were rife in the media that, the no-nonsense minister has ordered for the review of the Black Stars' squad invited by the Israeli import trainer as he should replace them with local based players.

But the spokesperson of the nation's football governing body says even not his outfit could dictate for the former Chelsea gaffer on players invitations for national duties let alone the minister.

" In fact, not even the Ghana FA can dictate to Avram Grant on whom he should call or not. And so, if we the FA has no right to interfere with the players selection; how much more about the minister? He the minister can't tell Grant on whom he should invite for national assignment,"  the former BBC ace told Ahoto FM.

He added: "It's those people who are backing the minister in his quest to see us out of office by making this suggestions to him. But their calls will not hold as we won't pay heed to that."

Ghana will play Rwanda in the last round of the 2017 Afcon qualifiers in Gabon, although they have booked their place for the competition already.
