Former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama feels building the senior men national team around local players is the best and that's what he intend doing when he is voted into office again.
Following the Black Stars disappointing AFCON campaign, there has been lots of commentaries on social media regarding the dying Ghanaian game with journalists, former players and coaches all speaking about this said topic.
The country's abysmal performance at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D'Ivoire, resulted into the sacking of head coach Chris Hughton with the FA currently on the lookout for a replacement.
Sharing his view on the Black Stars, the renowned politician stated that, when he is re-elected into office, he is going to build the senior men national team around domestic players and strongly believes the team will improve massively if we have them as the core.
"We will build the new Black Stars based on home grown players, the core of the Black Stars must be made by domestic players"
John Dramani Mahama after losing the seat in 2016, will contest for the Presidency once more in the upcoming 2024 Genera Elections in the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
