Ahead of Ghana's 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu received a warm welcome from fans when the team arrived at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for training.

Salisu, who hails from Kumasi, will be playing for the national team in front of his hometown fans for the first time.

Excited fans mobbed the team bus at the stadium gate, chanting Salisu's name and showing their support for both the defender and the Black Stars. Salisu had previously taken to social media to urge Kumasi fans to come out and support the team during the upcoming qualifier.

Under new manager Chris Hughton, Ghana will play against Angola in a two-legged qualifier, with the first match scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, March 23.

The return leg will be played in Luanda on March 27, with the winner advancing to the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.
