The Black Queens of Ghana have suffered a semi-final eviction in the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after losing 4-2 on penalties to host nation Morocco on the back of a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Olympique Stadium in Rabat.

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren made no change from the team that started the last game against Algeria with key figures like skipper Portia Boakye, Jennifer Cudjoe, Doris Boaduwaa, Grace Asantewaa, all making the cut.

The Black Queens dominated the game from the beginning and were by far the better side in the first half having finished ahead thanks to Stella Nyamekye’s 26th goal. 

Ghana subsequently had chances to increase their tally in the first half but blasted all wide which came to hunt them in the second phase.

In the second half, the Atlas Lionesses bounced back stronger and got the equalizer in just ten minutes courtesy Anderlecht attacker Sakina Ouzraoui

Both teams stood up against each other having taken the game so high and made series goal scoring opportunities but no was produced game throughout extra time

Morocco won 4-2 during the penalty shootouts to set up a crunchy final against Nigeria. The Black Queens will take on the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the third-place playoff
