The Black Queens of Ghana have cruised into the semi-final of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations having beaten Algeria 2-4 via penalty shootouts after a goalless draw in Berkane

The game was really a very difficult one for both teams with Ghana getting most of the incursions but failed to find the back of the net and that’s due to how solid the Algerians were in defense

After series of incursions in the first half, Ghana opened the scoring account in the 27th minute through US-based Stella Nyamekye but goal was later disallowed after VAR check

Both teams bounced back stronger in the second half and took the game at each other but still struggled to find the back of the net

Substitute Evelyn Badu was picked up with a decent cross but she unfortunately mis-kicked from a close range. That was very easy to score than to miss as ut stayed goalless after regulation time

Algeria had a huge opportunity to find the net in the dying embers of extra time but Susan Ama Duah’s big tackle denied Nouhed Naili from a very close range. They were no goal produced in the extra 30 minutes as the game travelled to penalties

Goalkeeper Cynthia Findib Konlan saved two kicks in the shootouts as Ghana won 2-4 to set up a crunchy semi final clash against host Morocco
