The Black Queens were painfully evicted from the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations by host nation Morocco in what was an entertaining end to end action last night in Rabat
The Queens gave away a goal lead to suffer a penalty shootouts defeat to the Atlas Lionesses in the second semi-final at the Olympique Stadium
Youngster Stella Nyamekye opened the scoring account in the 26th minute and handed Ghana the lead at half time but the goal was subsequently cancelled out by RSC Anderlecht forward Sakina Ouzraoui, who scored in just ten minutes into the second half
Speaking after the game, the Swedish tactician was full of praises for his players for their stupendous performance and added they were the better side but weren’t lucky in the end
“I am so proud of the girls. I think we were the better team and I think we deserved to win.”
Ghana will now face South Africa again in the third place playoff on Friday, July 25, 2025, while Morocco square off against giants Nigeria in the final the next day
