Black Satellites coach, Desmond Ofei has described their narrow win against Benin as a hard-earned one and lauded his players for showing character and dedication throughout the game

The Satellites after drawing against Nigeria in their opening game, picked up their first win in the competition after narrowly beating the Young Cheetahs of Benin by 1-0 earlier today at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram in the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship

The game was really a very difficult one for the 2009 world champions as no goal was produced at half-time but Golden Kick star Bless Ege scored a beauty in the 52nd minute to hand Ghana all three points after full-time

Speaking in a post-match presser, the enterprising gaffer admitted they were handed a very tougher opposition but added they still couldn’t get distracted as they still stood on their toes to fight for the victory

“It’s a hard fought victory. Honestly we needed the win so we had to show some character and the boys showed that today and was what we were missing in our last game and luckily we came away with a good goal and that led to the three points so we are very happy.”

With goal difference, the Black Satellites will finish second in Group A and will face the winner of Group B in the semi final
