Black Stars defender, Mohammed Salisu has rendered a sincere apology to the people of Ghana following their embarrassing display at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D'Ivoire.

Ghana sadly suffered another embarrassing group stage eviction just as it happened in the last edition in Cameroon.

Playing at his first ever AFCON, the ex- Southampton center-back featured in all three matches played but unfortunately couldn't sail out of the group having amassed only two points in the first round.

Speaking on their early eviction, the stalwart defender has apologized for their poor show and also thanked the supporters and hopes to bounce back stronger in future.

"Sincere apologies to Ghanaian people for this disappointment, this is not the way we wanted it. We thank you for your support as we hope to get back stronger and better."

Mohammed Salisu will now return to his club AS Monaco to continue with the remainder of the 2023/24 football season.

The Black Stars will return into action on June 5, to face the Eagles of Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
