Bankroller of Heart of Lions, Randy Abbey has hugely celebrated the return of his club into the Ghanaian topflight and added the Volta Region has been without topflight football for long.
After being relegated from the elite league in 2015, along with Brong Ahafo United and Accra Great Olympics, the team has been vying for a return to the top flight ever since.
Their promotion was finally achieved by clinching the Division One League Zone 3 championship with a comfortable lead of 16 points with four matches to wrap up the season.
Reacting to their qualification, the GFA EXCO member revealed how excited he is at the moment following the qualification and added the region has really missed topflight football. He told Original FM in Accra;
“I am happy for the people of Kpando and its environs, especially the Volta Region, that the Premier League is back."
"When you look at the game between us and Volta Rangers in Ho and you look at the way the stadium was filled up, the tension and excitement, you could see the Region has been deprived of Premier League football.”
"We have been starved of top-flight football for long, and I thank God we are back."
