The former Ghana international has questioned the incumbent nation's football governing body chief over his purported quest to seek presidential term extension ahead of the impending GFA presidential and executive council elections next year

Black Stars great Malik Jabir has raised eyebrows over the speculation of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kurt Okraku bid to seek a third term of office for the 2027 polls.

The former Asante Kotoko kingpin and manager believes the CAF Second-Vice President ambitions for continuation on the throne will undermine the progress of the sporting discipline in the west African nation given the pressing issues that have prevented the senior national football team from achieving success across the continent for more than four decades.

The 81-year-old retired forward argues that the Dreams FC cash-splasher would have enjoyed a leeway over his presidential term extension if he had won laurels for the country since assuming office in 2019.

Speaking in an interview, the 1968 African Cup of Nations runner-up told Kumasi-based Angel FM: ''What third term? Look, any association that keeps changing its term of office means maybe we are not too serious. I tell you, if Okraku had won all the cups we need by now, I don’t think anybody would want him to go. But he hasn’t won even one. Even sometimes it’s difficult to beat a team with seven coaches. What are we waiting for?''

With the GFA presidential and executive council elections set to take place in 2027, prominent figures with the football fraternity including; Samuel Annim Addo, Ralph Gyambrah, Elloeny Amande and former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew are all believed to be readying themselves to contest the presidency.
