Football fanatics in Ghana are set to breathe a collective sigh of relief as the lazily days of sporting boredom is finally over.
The days of clock watching and having to endure seemingly endless doses of telenovelas laced with Fante-Twi and beauty pageants can now be forgotten, as the attractive betPawa Premier League is back into full force this weekend.
The 2022/23 betPawa PL season will kickstart as scheduled on Sunday, 10th of September - with the Northern Blue’s of Ghana football set to welcome new entrants FC Samartex to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, as it could well give us an idea of what to expect from the enigmatic Real Tamale United this year.
The Timber Giants are poised to come out of their forestry covens as they aim to be Real Tamale United’s bogeyman, starting from this weekend’s Match Day 1 fixture.
The Pride of the North failed to find any real consistency, having escaped relegation by a whisker last season—and without doubt they are certain to be one of the most improved sides this term.

However, you get the sense that head coach Baba Nuhu Mallam is targeting much bigger things—and he certainly, believes, has the squad to do so and as a enterprising tactical brainy, he has welcomed six new recruits in the just ended transfer window.
On the other hand, the Samreboi-based club have become one of those outfits that are financially loaded on low-key and while Annor Walker has signed some talented players, he should desperately steady the ship and keep the club consistent if they want to stay in the league.
There is not much history between these two as their last meeting was in the Division One League Super Cup ten months ago which ended on a 1-1 stalemate. Sunday will be their first meeting in the top-flight.
However, Real Tamale United are huge favorites considering their impregnable home record and the experience they have amassed in the top-tier so far, but, well, expect a good game and may the best team win.
