Captain of Black Galaxies, Gladson Awako is very optimistic they are going to have a very good tournament and make huge statements in Algeria in the ongoing African Nations Championship.
The Ghana's home-based national team have been in camp for over two months since securing qualification and are looking very ready and poised for the tournament.
They engaged in some high profile friendlies within that period against Egypt U20, African giants Al Ahly, host nation Algeria and others to test their strength and see how their progression has been.
The ex- TP Mazembe star nearly caused a scare for Ghanaians after sustaining a minor Injury against Algeria in one of the warm-up friendlies but has been handed the medical greenlight to feature in their opening game on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Hearts of Oak playmaker is very impressed with their preparations so far and strongly believes they will perform very well in the competition.
“We are here to compete. No one goes into a competition to lose. We are confident and looking at the camp, each player is looking good and confident,” Awako told Cafonline
“Our preparations have gone very well, and we played two competitive friendlies in Egypt as well as here in Algeria to fine-tune our preparations.”
“If we carry on with the same momentum, I think we should have a good tournament."
Ghana will face Madagascar in their opening game on Sunday, January 15, 2023 in Constantine.
