First place in the Ghana Premier League table is up for grabs on Sunday lunchtime, as Aduana Stars make a short 1 hour 13 minutes (60.6 km) trip to Nsoatre to face their fellow regional rivals Nsoatreman FC at Nana Konamansah Park.
The Fire Boys ruined Bismark Kobi Mensah’s happiness with a 1-0 beating of Bechem United last Friday, while uneasiness rocked the fold of Nsoatreman down south in Sogakope as the ‘Efiri Tete Amanaso’ lost to Accra Lions by two goals to one.
With just a solitary five points taken from their last five Premier League fixtures, the ‘Efiri Tete Amanaso’ - who in recent weeks were sitting happily on top of the table, are now sleepwalking towards the mid zone in 5th place in the summit, although numerically three-point cushion still separates them from leaders Aduana Stars.
With Nsoatreman and Aduana necking it down in this weekend's action, another three-point haul for the Fire Boys would pinned them to the summit for at least a couple of days. Samartex will have the chance to respond at 3pm on Sunday as well against Karela United - but a shock loss to Nsoatreman leaves Yaw Acheampong’s side at risk of being closely pursued by the Timber Giants.
