Asante Kotoko SC is set to host Heart of Lions FC at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with the former champions welcoming the newly promoted side.
Heart of Lions last featured in the Ghana Premier League back in 2015 when they were relegated after finishing in 14th place out of 16 clubs.
In recent encounters between these two teams, Asante Kotoko has won one of their last two matches, while Heart of Lions has also claimed one victory. The previous results were Heart of Lions 3-1 Asante Kotoko and Asante Kotoko 4-0 Heart of Lions.
Asante Kotoko has appointed their former head coach, Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, and has made several signings, including Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed, Sampson Asamoah, Nanabayin Amoah, Baba Yahaya, Kalo Ouattara, and Henry Ansu.
Heart of Lions earned promotion to the Premier League by topping Zone three of the Access Bank Division One League. They have retained head coach Salifu Fatawu and have key players like Dickson Sakabutu, Thomas Kwabena Osae, new signing Seedorf Asante, Denis Hutor, and Ruben Hennesy available for their opening game.
