Nations FC are aiming to move back into the Premier League top spot when they travel to Berekum to play against Chelsea.
The Abrankese side will inch closer to the top of the summit if they beat the Bibires, with table-toppers Bibiani Gold Stars also in action on Sunday when they visit Vision FC. With fellow top four seeded Heart of Lions playing in the Premier League this weekend as they visit struggling Legon Cities, Kasim Mingle's side have the perfect opportunity to further their bid for CAF Champions League qualification.
Match Preview
Five straight Premier League victories, including being awarded three points with three goals from already withdrawn Ghana Premier League outfit Nsoatreman FC, have boosted Nations FC chances and they enter Sunday's fixture in a confident mood.
Berekum Chelsea on the other hand must avoid slip-ups between now and the campaign's conclusion. Samuel Boadu has never led a club to relegation as a coach but such an unexpected fate remains a very real possibility for the former Hearts of Oak coach this term.
Defeat for Nations this weekend would allow Chelsea to climb a little further from their current standing of 10th on 38 points as the Bono side continue their fight for a return to continental football.
Berekum Chelsea FC possible starting lineup (4-1-4-1):
Adu (GK); Fuseini (C), Adjei, Afriyie, Amankona, Anane, Attuquaye, Badori, Gyau, Mensah, Seidu
Nations FC possible starting lineup (4-2-3-1):
Sanon (GK) (C), Abrokwa, Alhassan, Annor, Badu, Charwetey, Danso, Grippman, Kuffour, Nettey, Sulemana
We say: Berekum Chelsea FC 2-2 Nations FC
Berekum Chelsea can still salvage some pride from a disappointing campaign should they surge into the top-four, but neither will be straightforward given their current form. They have looked patchy in defence and surprisingly uninspiring in the final third despite a wealth of options.
Nations are in excellent form and have beaten Kotoko (twice) this season, Hearts of Oak and Medeama.
Chelsea, having already triumphed over Nations in November's reverse fixture, they will have few fears heading to their favorite Golden City Park, judging with the form and explosiveness of the visitors.
The Bibires are in stronger form on home soil this season but could find life challenging up against the Abrankese troops' intensity.
Kickoff for this match is scheduled at 15:00 GMT.
