Bibiani Goldstars can extend their Premier League lead to 5 points on Sunday afternoon when they host fifth of the table Medeama SC at the Dunns Park.

With Nations FC also in action on Sunday, April 20, against Asante Kotoko, the Miners can move further clear of their title rivals with victory over the unflinching Yellow and Mauves. Goldstars already have one hand on the trophy but can ill-afford complacency down the stretch.

Match Preview

Goldstars gave Bechem United their toughest assignment of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they travelled to Bechem United in an outstanding  Matchweek 22 fixture. The Western North Region side were utterly dominant throughout a difficult afternoon, as they Annexed a 2-0 vital win.

Medeama are likely to pose even a tenth of the challenge that Bechem United offered midweek, with Ibrahim Tanko having been able to rescue their fortunes. The former Ghana international has lost three and drawn three of his last six matches since taking charge, with the Western Regional side now sitting 9 points from the top of the summit.

Medeama have already beaten (2-0) Goldstars once this season but the TnA Stadium meeting was fiercely-contested. That is perhaps the only silver lining the Miners can take into the weekend's match-up.

Bibiani Goldstars  possible starting lineup (4-2-3-1):

Kobi (GK); Atingah (C), Acheampong, Agyei, Amon, Anaba, Aso, Frimpong, Ofori, Oppong, Osei

Medeama possible starting lineup (3-4-2-1):

Kyei (GK), Abdulai, Braye, Fordjour, Mamudu, Sulemana (C), Mantey, Owusu E, Owusu P, Tetteh, Yussif

We say: Bibiani Goldstars 4-0 Medeama

There will be tired legs within both club's camp but the league leaders (Goldstars) have the strength and depth to handle such fatigue. Even if coach Frimpong Manso rotates his side this weekend, they should waltz to a comfortable win in front of their own supporters.

Medeama lost their last match 1-0 and could make it an unwanted brace on Dunns Park. They have accrued forty one points this term and may aim not to find it difficult to score against a Goldstars side who have kept two consecutive clean sheets in their last two Premier League games.

Kickoff for this match is scheduled at 15:00 GMT.
