Karela United reignited their Ghana Premier League survival hopes with a crucial 2-0 win over Aduana Stars on Sunday at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu.
Forward Alhassan Adamu was the hero of the afternoon, netting a brace with goals in the 13th and 55th minutes to seal a well-deserved victory for the home side.
Karela began the match with aggression and urgency, pressing high and dictating the tempo. Their early dominance paid off when Adamu capitalized on a defensive error to slot in the opener. Aduana, who have struggled on their travels this season, failed to respond and found themselves on the back foot for much of the game.
The second half saw more of the same from Karela, whose relentless pressure was rewarded again when Adamu rose to head home his second goal, effectively putting the game out of Aduana’s reach.
The win pushes Karela United up to 28 points, just above the relegation zone, and provides a much-needed boost in their fight for survival. Head coach Nurudeen Amadu will be encouraged by the hunger and discipline shown by his team.
For Aduana FC, the loss continues a worrying away form—just two wins in 14 road games this season. The defeat pulls them closer to the relegation zone and adds further pressure as the season nears its climax.
