Asante Kotoko secured a gritty 2-1 win against Dreams FC at the Tuba Astroturf in Krokrobite, Accra, on Saturday, extending their winning streak in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors dominated the first half, netting twice in quick succession. Yahaya Baba broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, finishing a precise cutback from close range. Just three minutes later, Saaka Dauda capitalized on a rebound to double Kotoko’s lead, putting them in a strong position heading into the break.
Dreams FC, however, showed resilience in the second half. Joseph Esso pulled one back in the 58th minute with a composed finish, injecting life into the contest and setting up a tense finale. Despite sustained pressure and several opportunities, Dreams FC couldn’t find the equalizer, leaving Kotoko to claim all three points.
The match statistics highlighted the competitiveness of the encounter, with both sides evenly splitting possession and registering eight goal attempts each. Kotoko’s sharper finishing and clinical edge proved decisive.
The victory marks Kotoko’s third consecutive triumph following wins over Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak, keeping them just three points behind league leaders Heart of Lions. Meanwhile, Dreams FC remain mired in the relegation zone, grappling with a challenging campaign.
Looking ahead, Kotoko will host GoldStars on Christmas Eve, aiming to maintain their momentum, while Dreams FC will seek redemption against Berekum Chelsea.
