Bibiani Goldstars survived a major scare from seventh-placed Medeama SC as they earned a narrow 1-0 win at Dunns Park.
Samuel Attah Kumi scored the only goal late on to secure a victory that moves Frimpong Manso's side 2 points clear at the top of the Premier League.
But before the goal came through, shortly after restart the tempo and the complexion of the game changed as both side's went close to opening the scoring.
As such, chances proved few and far between for the lethargic hosts as their captain Vincent Atingah failed to dispatch as he squandered a rare chance for the Miners to take an early lead as Goldstars were awarded a penalty in the 50th minute.
Still, it felt like only a matter of time until Medeama clicked into gear, which made the fact that Bibiani Goldstars scored the only goal of the match just before the 90 minutes mark all the more surprising.
To their credit, the Yellow and Mauves did not give up, and underlined their threat, but it was already too late as their hopes of snatching a point did not materialize.
