Karela United were held to a 1-1 draw by Basake Holy Stars at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 9, 2025, as their relegation struggles continued.
Alhassan Adamu gave Karela a dream start, netting his third goal in two matches just five minutes into the game. The hosts maintained their narrow lead heading into halftime.
Basake Holy Stars, however, found a way back in the second half. The visitors were awarded a penalty, and substitute Bismark Teye stepped up to convert, leveling the score. Despite both teams pushing for a winner, the match ended 1-1.
The draw leaves Karela United in the relegation zone with 18 points, while Basake Holy Stars sit in ninth place with 24 points.
The league newcomers will host Nsoatreman FC in their next fixture, while Karela will travel to face Heart of Lions as they fight to escape the drop.
