Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw in a hard-fought match at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday, a result that ended Kotoko's four-game winning streak and prevented Medeama from securing back-to-back victories under interim coach Evans Adotey.
Kotoko took the lead just before halftime when Kwame Opoku found the back of the net in the 44th minute. The striker, in fine form since his return to the club, extended his goal-scoring run, giving Kotoko a 1-0 advantage. The visitors were dominant in the first half, displaying a disciplined defensive performance as they looked set to claim their fifth consecutive win.
However, Medeama regrouped after the break and were rewarded for their improved play. Coach Adotey’s tactical adjustments played a key role, with substitute Kamaradini Mamudu equalizing in the 67th minute. Mamudu capitalized on a defensive mistake to score and bring the home crowd to life.
Both sides pressed for a winner in the final stages, but neither team could break the deadlock. The draw leaves Kotoko disappointed, losing momentum in their pursuit of the league’s top spot, while Medeama displayed resilience to salvage a point at home.
