First-half goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Faisal Charwetey ensured Nations FC secured a sweet away win against Asante Kotoko at Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

Asante Kotoko suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the Premier League after losing 2-0 to their city rivals in the match-week 11 game on Sunday afternoon.

Nations FC staged intense pressure on the hosts to concede two goals before the break, courtesy goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Faisal Charwetey.

Coach Kassim Mingle's side commenced the fixture on a good note with several fearsome attacks to unsettle the back line of Asante Kotoko, which saw them conceding two goals in fifteen minutes.

Sulemana opened the scoring for Nations FC with a fine strike in the 30th minute after a defensive blunder of Asante Kotoko when he picked up a loose ball and struck it firmly into the yawning net.

Asante Kotoko came close to leveling the score through diminutive winger Baba Yahaya, but his effort was denied by the woodwork in the 43rd minute of the game

Two minutes later, in-form young attacker Faisal Charwetey doubled the lead for the Eagles lads after capitalizing on Mohammed Camara's howler on the stroke of halftime.

In the second half, Asante Kotoko took over possession with the hopes of at least reducing the deficit, but their efforts proved futile.

Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum introduced Fernando, Albert Amoah, and Peter Amidu Acquah upfront to unleash pressure on the defense of Nations FC. However, the visitors stood resolute in defense to hold onto their 2-0 lead until the final whistle.

Following the victory, Nations FC have moved to the top place with 22 points, leapfrogging Bibiani Goldstars, who suffered their first defeat of the season to Medeama SC in Tarkwa.

Asante Kotoko have dropped to 8th position with 15 points after eleven matches in the ongoing season.

Asante Kotoko will make a trip to Dormaa to face Aduana Stars, while Nations FC will host Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League match-week 12 next weekend.
