Substitute Michael Nkoah netted his first-ever goal in the Ghana Premier League to hand Bibiani Goldstars a slim victory over Bechem United on Sunday.

Bechem United, who had picked only one victory in this season's campaign, had their woes deepened by the Miners in the Ghana Premier League match-week five fixture at Dun's Park in Bibiani.

After the first half produced no goal, Bibiani Goldstars returned from the tunnel with the aim of unlocking the back line of the visitors before the half-hour mark.

The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Michael Nkoah, who had replaced injured Samuel Attah Kumi in the 23rd minute, brilliantly opened the scoring for Goldstars with a fine strike.

Bibiani Goldstars came close to double their lead through Ronald Frimpong in the 73rd minute, but his effort was fisted out by Dara Aziz to keep Bechem United hopes of leveling the score alive.

Despite the late incursions from Bechem United upfront, the home side stood resolute to cruise to a 1-0 victory at Dun's Park.

The Bibiani-based outfit are unbeaten in the ongoing season and have picked 11 points to keep them in second place on the table, while Bechem United occupies 12th position with just five points after match-day five.

Bibiani Goldstars will travel to face Nations FC next weekend, while Bechem United will host Medeama SC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
