The Ghana Premier League is back in full swing, and Saturday’s clash at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex pits Eleven Wonders against Heart of Lions in what promises to be a cagey gameweek two contest.

Eleven Wonders are still searching for their first win of the campaign after opening with a goalless draw away to Basake Holy Stars, while Bashir Hayford’s Lions secured a morale-boosting 1–0 victory over Dreams FC in Kpando last weekend.

Match Preview

Eleven Wonders showed flashes of grit in their opening draw, with goalkeeper Acheampong standing tall when called upon. But questions remain over their ability to convert chances, as the frontline looked short of cutting edge.

Heart of Lions, on the other hand, displayed both discipline and opportunism in their win over Dreams. Ebenezer Abban’s coolly converted first-half penalty was enough to seal the points, and Hayford’s men will be confident of carrying that momentum into this fixture.

This ground has historically favoured Lions, and with their blend of youthful energy and experienced heads, they’ll fancy their chances of punishing any lapses from the Sure Wonders.

Eleven Wonders possible starting lineup (3-4-2-1):

Acheampong (GK); Boateng (C), Afurapoe, Ahmed; Amponsah, Awere, Baah, Hodu; Issah, Lomotey; Owusu

Heart of Lions possible starting lineup (4-3-3):

Osei (GK); Abban (C), Addo, Ali, Anim; Atta Agyei, Danso, Freeman; Hennessy, Obeng Jnr, Quansah

Team News

Eleven Wonders have integrated new signing Richard Baah into midfield, and his ability to link defence with attack could prove vital. Meanwhile, forward Daniel Lomotey Agbloe, who arrived in the off-season, is expected to be handed a starting role as Nii Odartey Lamptey searches for goals.

Heart of Lions will continue to rely on skipper Ebenezer Abban, but watch out for exciting winger Chauncy Freeman, a summer recruit, who looked lively in his debut. Defender Bismark Anim, who is not new to the squad, adds steel to their backline.

We say: Eleven Wonders 1-2 Heart of Lions

Both sides will see this as an opportunity to build early-season momentum, but Lions compact shape and sharpness in front of goal could make the difference.

Daniel Lomotey Agbloe could open the scoring for Wonders, before Obeng Jnr equalises. Abban, the Lions talisman, could once again prove decisive to seal a narrow away win.

Kickoff is scheduled for 15:00 GMT on Saturday, September 20.
