Bibiani Gold Stars boosted their Ghana Premier League title push with an emphatic win over Basake Holy Stars on Sunday at Dun’s Park.

The home side stamped their authority on the contest early, with Razack Sanou opening the scoring in the 16th minute. Just six minutes later, Arthur Justice doubled the advantage to give Gold Stars full control of the match.

Kumi Attah wrapped up the victory in the 70th minute, finishing off a dominant display that kept the hosts firmly in the hunt at the top of the table.

The win saw Gold Stars close to within five points of league leaders Medeama SC, who dropped points after being held by Aduana FC. The result also strengthened Bibiani’s position in the top four as the title race continues to intensify.

For Basake Holy Stars, the defeat leaves them hovering just above the relegation zone. Despite their recent triumph over Berekum Chelsea, they struggled to cope with the pace and attacking intensity of the hosts in Bibiani.

Gold Stars will now turn their attention to a tough away trip against Heart of Lions as they aim to keep the pressure on the leaders. Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, return home to face Swedru All Blacks in a crucial encounter in their fight to avoid the drop.
