Heart of Lions produced a strong and confident display to beat giants Asante Kotoko 3–1 in their matchweek 21 clash of the Ghana Premier League at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The “Dzie Woa Nu” started with fire and controlled large parts of the game, and their pressure finally paid off in the 35th minute when midfielder Seedorf Asante opened the scoring with a well-taken finish.

Heart of Lions doubled their advantage just before the break. Defender Fawzi Ali scored in stoppage time of the first half (45+2’), giving the hosts a comfortable 2–0 lead heading into halftime.

Asante Kotoko responded after the restart and gave themselves hope in the 58th minute when Samba O’Niel pulled one back, finishing calmly to reduce the deficit.

However, Heart of Lions refused to sit back. They continued to press in search of a decisive third goal, and their efforts were rewarded when forward Michael Ephson sealed the win with the famous “Dzie Woa Nu” third goal, restoring the two-goal cushion and putting the result beyond doubt.

Statistically, Heart of Lions were the better side on the day, enjoying 57% possession, registering 10 shots, seven on target, and winning seven corner kicks, while receiving just one yellow card.

Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, managed 43% possession, six shots, two on target, and three corners, and picked up two yellow cards, with no red cards for either side.

The victory lifts Heart of Lions to 7th place on the league table with 30 points, while Asante Kotoko remain 3rd with 35 points, missing the chance to close the gap at the top.
