Medeama SC scored late to salvage a 1-1 draw in what was a very difficult game against FC Samartex at the TNA Park in match-day six of the Ghana Premier League.
After what was a very tough encounter in Tarkwa, it was FC Samartex who showed resilience having managed to preserve their first half lead through the major part of the game only to concede at the death and failed to leave with all three points.
The homesters were definitely on top of the game having dominated from midfield most at times but their widemen from the flanks struggled most at times with penetration into enemy territory.
The Timber Giants despite not finding their perfect rhythm stayed very resolute in defense and nipped on a fantastic Awuah Dramani goal after a big hit from the middle of the park straight into the net to snatch the lead in the 39th minute.
Back from recess, both teams returned on a lower note hence leading to a very sloppy start to the second half with no attempts on goal in the opening minutes.
The Mauves and Yellows settled quick and took the game under their total control and attacked with so much intent and purpose in search of the equalizer.
The home team came very close in the 71st minute to scoring but a huge double stops by goalkeeper Musah Zakari and a late goal-line clearance from Agbesimah denied both Salim Adams and Kamaradini Mamudu.
Medeama SC finally got the big leveller with just a minute to full-time after a great team build up fell on the path of Kofi Babil who struggled a bit but later fell kindly for Kingsley Braye who tapped in from a close range. Just what they kept on hunting for.
Kelvin Nkrumah came so close to giving the host the lead for the first time in the game with a great curler but a spectacular save once again from goalkeeper Musah Zakari, who tipped off the crossbar saved the visitors. It finished 1-1 after full-time.
Medeama SC with a point will now extend their lead to two but are most likely to drop depending on results from other matches tomorrow. They will host Swedru All Blacks next
FC Samartex on the other hand remain in fourth place with 10 points and will welcome newbies Hohoe United next in Samreboi.
