Bechem United secured a convincing 1-3 victory over Eleven Wonders in an epic match-day 31 opener of the Ghana Premier League at the Swedru Sports Stadium.
It was an entertaining contest with both sides showing intent, but Bechem United proved more clinical in front of goal. Augustine Okrah was the difference-maker, netting twice to seal the win for the Hunters.
Okrah opened the scoring inside the first two minutes with a simple close-range finish before doubling the lead 20 minutes later, again converting from close range. The brace takes his tally to 13 goals this season.
Eleven Wonders pushed to get back into the game and showed glimpses of fight, but they struggled to break down a well-organized Bechem defence, despite creating a few opportunities.
The homesters pulled one back through Eden Kofi Asamoah before Isaiah Nyarko scored to restore their two-goal lead to cruise into victory.
The defeat extends Eleven Wonders’ poor run to eleven matches without a win, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the table with just 10 points and will travel to Swedru All Blacks next.
Bechem United, on the other hand, climb up to ninth place with 50 points and will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Dreams FC as they look to build on this momentum.
