A resilient Eleven Wonders snatched a vital point with a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser in their 1–1 draw against Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Wonders entered the fixture under immense pressure after three straight defeats and the sudden resignation of coach Josef Emmanuel Sarpiong, who stepped down after just 20 days in charge. Their struggles seemed set to continue when Safianu Usman fired Hohoe United ahead in the 28th minute.
The hosts tightened their grip on the match, especially after Wonders were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute. But against the run of play, Mathew Amponsah produced a moment of brilliance—cutting in from the flank and unleashing a superb strike into the top corner to level the score deep into stoppage time.
The goal ended Wonders’ run of four consecutive defeats and earned them only their third point of the season after 11 games, though they remain anchored near the bottom of the table.
For Hohoe United, the draw extends their winless streak to six matches, leaving them hovering just above the relegation zone. Eleven Wonders will now hope to build on this fighting display when they face Dreams FC next, while Hohoe United prepare for a difficult away test against Bechem United.
