Abdul Aziz Nurudeen said he is excited to be back on the field of play after a "terrible" injury layoff, with the Hearts of Oak midfielder receiving the Man of the Match award in his first start of the season against Nsoatreman on Sunday.

Nurudeen, who had thigh injury surgery in South Africa, captained Hearts of Oak to secure their first win of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium against a potent Nsoatreman side.

"I didn't expect it, you know, after one year, getting laid off the field, coming back to win 'Man of the Match'," Nurudeen said.

The 25-year-old made a cameo appearance in their 1-0 defeat at Real Tamale United on match-day 1 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
