Gabriel Opoku Ware, a former defender for Asante Kotoko, has expressed his opinion that Abdul Gazale still has a lot to learn in order to be qualified as the head coach of Kotoko.

After the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo in March, Kotoko has been without a permanent coach. Gazale was appointed as the interim boss until the end of the 2022/23 season, leading the team to a fourth-place finish, although they were unable to defend their Premier League title.

Opoku Ware, speaking to Kessben Sports, stated, “They should bring in a new coach because Gazale is not up there yet. He is good but he needs to learn more. They should bring someone else so that Gazale can understudy the person. Maybe in future he can take up the job.”

There have been reports about the dissolution of the management and board of the club, and it is believed that the club's hierarchy is interested in reuniting with Kwesi Appiah.

Appiah enjoyed success as a player and had a brief stint as a coach at the club. It is expected that Kwesi Appiah will be selected as the new head coach of Kotoko for the upcoming 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
