Hearts of Oak boss Aboubakar Ouattara had a withering response for his critics after getting the better of Bechem United in Sunday's Ghana Premier League victory.

The Phobians managed to secure their first win of the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, beating Bechem United 2-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Ouattara, an Ivorian tactician has attracted criticism in recent times for his strategies in the initiating stages of the season.

A succession of two defeats have seen questions raised over his strategy in domestic matches, but there was no arguing with the result in Sunday's game as Bechem United were sunk in a frantic end to proceedings at the Phobians adopted grounds.

But when questioned on his tactical approach to the game, Ouattara - who devised a more cautious strategy than is custom to keep tabs on the Hunters dangermen - did not expect to receive any plaudits.

"I am a democrat. When you criticise me and it’s not an insult, I take some of it. The way you have a free hand to criticize is the same as I have a free hand to put the player I like [in the team]," Ouattara said.

Hearts will be back in action on Sunday, September 29, when they take on Nations FC in the match-day four fixture.
