Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions have announced the transfer of Frederick Asante and Jacob Amu Mensah to Chinese second-tier outfit Shanghai Jiading.
The duo, who have had a tremendous campaign with the Capital based club, are joining the Chinese club on permanent basis after passing mandatory medical examination earlier this week.
The club's official statement reads “We are pleased to announce the transfers of striker Fredrick Asante and defender Jacob Amu Mensah to Chinese second-tier club Shanghai Jiading.”
Amu Mensah established himself as a highly-rated centre-back for Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League this season where he featured in 15 matches and scored two goals for the club.
21-year-old attacker, Frederick Asante also scored three goals and provided an assist in 13 appearances for Accra Lions in this season's campaign.
Accra Lions General Manager Ishmael Hamidu expressed his profound gratitude to the two footballers and urged them to excel at their new club.
Hamidu said: “Both players contributed a lot to the success of our club, they deserve a chance for greener pastures even though we know that we will miss them sorely in the rest of our Ghana Premier League campaign!”
“We wish them the best of luck in their new challenge.”
Shanghai Jiading already have former Accra Lions striker Evans Etti in their fold for the 2023 season's campaign.
