National League North club Darlington FC have announced they have parted ways with striker Akwasi Asante.
The Dutch-born Ghanaian goal poacher player joined Darlington in November, 2023, from EFL League Two side Chesterfield.
Asante was a regular in the Quakers matchday squad for the first few weeks, making just nine appearances for the club due to recurrent injuries.
After crunch meetings between the sixth tier club and Asante, both parties have agreed to terminate the players contract subject to FA and National League approval.
"We would like to thank Akwasi for his service with us, and wish him all the best in the future." a club statement read.
The 31-year-old failed to make the most of the opportunity to play for the County Durham giants as he struggled to adapt to life at Blackwell Meadows
Asante was expected to mount a serious comeback with a bang, but he still couldn't dislodge his nippy injury.
