Uganda striker Steven Desse Mukwala has told Asante Kotoko he intends to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old, who arrived in Kumasi from Kampala based URA FC in August 2022, will not extend his contract as it will expire at the end of the season as there's no clause allowing him to stay for another year.
Mukwala, who has shelled out impressive performance for Asante Kotoko has been widely tipped to move to an unnamed Algerian giants and, according to a source close to the player, has already entered negotiations with the North African club.
For the Porcupine Warriors, the departure of their main star, two years after the exit of Franck Etouga Mbella, marks the beginning of a new era of uncertainty as coach Prosper Ogum will need to beef up his frontline options with the acquisition of prolific goal danglers as he might offload some dead wood attackers.
The former URA FC and Vipers SC attacker has contributed greatly to Asante Kotoko, going ahead to score eight goals, providing one assist in sixteen Ghana Premier League games this season.
