Congolese international, Glid Otanga has confirmed he was approached by Asante Kotoko for a possible switch but he turned them down due to the love he has for Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak earlier this morning announced the departure of the stalwart middleman who has now joined newly-promoted Qatari side Al Kharaitiyat SC ahead of the 2024/25 football season.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season with the Phobians last season and is now joining the Thunders on a season long loan with an option for a permanent move.
The Republic of Congo middleman made 26 appearances last season having had more starts and provided an assist as a defensive midfielder.
His stellar performance was recognized by his country who handed his first invite into the senior national team ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com, the lanky midfielder revealed the Porcupine Warriors expressed interest in him but he rejected their offer since he has no intention of joining a rival club.
"I was approached by Asante Kotoko but I told them, am not interested to move from Hearts of oak.”
“I have a special place in my heart for Hearts of oak, I really love the club and there is no way I will sign for their rivals.”
Al Kharaitiyat SC finished second in the Qatargas League and have now secured promotion into the topflight where they will be competing next season.
